Right from its inception to now, our institution has marched forward to spread the light of education and pave the path of academic excellence for every student, teacher and managers. The key focus areas continue to remain challenging minds, encouraging innovation and sustaining excitement. The DCTE is committed to providing administrators, teachers and parents the resources needed to prepare our students to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Education is the key area which needs and deserves to be strengthened for achieving sustainable development and retain cohesion in society. The purpose of education has always been to give the learner things they need and aspire in order to develop in an orderly is and sequential way to become effective and responsible Citizens and leads the nation in a desired directions.
Similarly, this is the education which enable the leaners to grow and acquire such skills and knowledge by virtue of which they contribute to social and economic development of a society. When we talk of curriculum, it refers to a road map or guideline of any given discipline. The curriculum consists of everything that promotes the learner’s intellectual, spiritual/moral, aesthetic, social and physical development. In the current global scenario the role of curriculum has become more vital, important and increased. This is also worth mentioning that a sound educational program cannot be initiated without a balanced and responsive curriculum. An updated, and effective curriculum enables the citizens to confidently cope with the challenges of 21st century.
If we talk of assessment, it refers to a variety of methods or tools that educators use to evaluate, measure and document the academic readiness and learning. Latest and scientific assessment is important to establish conformity to agree benchmarks for learning as specific in curriculum.
In the last few years, we have taken several initiatives like development of curricula for Accelerated learning Program (ALP) from Grades I-VIII, textual material for ALP, and Scheme of Studies (SoS) for Grades Pre I-XII. Furthermore, textbooks from Grades I-XII have been revised in a phased manner, developed and revised optional subject curricula and also developed curricula for regional languages. In the area of educational assessment, student’s assessment for Grade V & VIII have also been conducted. DCTE have developed Pre-test, Post-test and Self-assessment for all cadres of newly inducted teachers of Induction Program. In order to assess pedagogical skills and content knowledge of teachers in the province, Teachers Competency Survey (TCS) and Teacher Content Knowledge (TCK) have been conducted and results of all studies disseminated to all stakeholders.
